Hedge bindweed: A hairless to softly hairy, perennial herb which spreads by slender, elongated rhizomes. The 2-3 m long stems trail or climb. The arrow to heart shaped leaves are 5-12 cm long. The 4-7 cm long flowers are tube shaped, and white to deep pink in colour. The seed capsules are egg-shaped and about 1 cm long. The seeds are about 5 mm long. The plants flower from May to September and are native to the eastern United States.
Grows quickly and is common in British Columbia. Can smother other plants if growing over top of them. |
