Hawkweed: Annual herb with milky juice, from a thin taproot. Basal leaves stalked and lance-shaped, with long narrow teeth. Slightly clasping stems, slightly hairy. Leaves reduced higher up the erect, simple to branched 20-90 cm tall sparsely hairy stem. Bright yellow flowers are large and dandelion-like. Several flowers in an open cluster, mid to late summer. The seeds are narrow and have fluffy hairs and are dispersed by wind.
