Lance-leafed violetLance-leafed violet: A hairless, 5-15 cm tall, perennial herb that spreads by slender, widespread, creeping rhizomes and by seeds from exploding seed capsules. The plant is nearly or quite stemless. The leaf blades are narrowly elliptic to lance shaped, 0.5-2 cm broad, 3-6 times as long, and very shallowly toothed. The flowers are 6-11 mm long, 5 petalled and white. The lower three petals are tinged purple. The seeds are brown, small, and round. The plants flower from May to June and are native to central and eastern North America.

Can form mats, which are not much taller than the cranberries.
