Slender toothwort: A perennial herb with short, slender, fleshy rhizomes that are generally less than 3-5 cm long and 1-4 mm thick. The erect stems are 10-30 cm tall. The basal leaves are of 3 types: round to heart shaped; deeply 3 or 5 lobes; with 3, 5, or 7 leaflets. There are also 1-3 leaves per flowering stem and each has 3-5 leaflets that are 1-4 cm long. The flowers have four, 9-14 mm long, pink to reddish or purple petals. The fruits are 1.5-5 cm long and 1.5 mm broad siliques.
The plants flower from March to May and are native to British Columbia. Rhizomes help spread plants more rapidly. |
