common vetch Common vetch: A slightly hairy, creeping perennial. The slender, solid stems can be angled, upright or trailing to 1 m. The 10-14 leaflets are linear to oblong to lance shaped and and 1.5-3 cm long. There are 1-3 purplish-red flowers per flowering stalk. The pods are 3-7 cm long. The seeds are gobe-like to somewhat compressed.

Common vetch is native to Europe. This weed climbs over cranberry plants, shading them and has a vigorous growth-habit. Spreads by rhizomes as well as seeds.
