Three-way sedge or Star grass: A perennial herb with horizontal, often deep seated rhizomes. The stems are round, hollow, jointed, leafy and 0.3-1 m tall. The leaves are 4-15 cm long, 2.5-8 mm broad, flat, linear, and more or less evenly distributed along the stem. The lower leaves do not have any blades. The flowering structure is inconspicuous. The seeds are narrow and 2.5-3 mm long. The seeds are surrounded by 6-9 brownish bristles. The plants are native to British Columbia.
